Have you ever gotten a “30 days to reset your nervous system!” bundle, or joined a somatic workshop, but the practices didn’t work for you?

Maybe it goes a little something like:

🌀 You try to do the movement practice and suddenly your chest is an escalator, your heart is running a marathon, and you’re panic attacking!

🌀 You take the deep breaths and close your eyes but then you’re sinking deep into the dorsal and dissociated swampland, feeling glued and unable to move.

🌀 The instructor gently asks “Where do you feel that in your body?” and you feel a whole lot of nothing! Numb. Nothing. Blank. And then you worry because you feel nothing. (Pssst: nothing is something, but we’ll get to that.)

If these words resonate, you might want to join me for

🌥️ Softer Somatics 🌥️

This somatic and nervous system healing library will help you be with your body and nervous system. Without force, judgment or the assumption it’s easy. From my work with hundreds of somatic clients (and my personal healing journey post complex trauma), I know it’s not!

These tools, practices and gentle approaches will help you ease into embodiment at your perfect pace.

If we haven’t met yet, I’m Jess (she/they)!

I’m a somatic practitioner who clawed and crawled my way back into my body after complex trauma and sexual assault.

And, after lifelong survival patterns of disembodiment, fawning and nervous system shapeshifting that literally kept me alive. But also made my life kinda small. (Oops!)

I’ve been on this somatic journey for decades, and I have the letters after my name to prove it.

So far: LMT, SSP, and almost SEP! This means I’m a Licensed Massage Therapist, a Safe & Sound Protocol Provider, and in September I complete my Somatic Experiencing Practitioner Certification!

Extensive trauma sensitive and trauma resolution studies, paired with my (not to brag!) extensive experiences being a client with a sensitive nervous system and reasons to come back to my body AND stay out prime me for this work.

I will guide you back to your body with care, and the knowledge that it’s not as easy as doing a body scan and “dropping in”.

Of course body connection doesn’t always feel safe. Of course we don’t always want to go towards the place where the pain lives.

This is why attuned support from someone who gets it deeply matters.

You don’t need to try harder. You need to learn the language of your body’s yes and no.

You don’t need to go faster. You need permission to go as slow as the scaredest part of you.

You don’t need to just connect. You need a guide who knows body connection isn’t always the safe option.

You don’t need to transcend your resistance. You need lots of choice about how you connect with your body.

You don’t need to get embodied immediately. You need someone who gets why you’d need to go slow.

You don’t need to do it alone. You need help.

As babies, we learn to self-regulate, self-soothe and stay alive through co-regulation.

Grown up you needs co-regulation, connection and community, too. Especially if you had less than you needed and deserved as a little one.

Jess embodies trauma-informed practice. Her approach exemplifies and amplifies being cared for within a community.

The spaciousness and genuine invitation to show up as you are feels like a rare offering in today's world.

I’m finding it a bit easier to make conscious choices in the moment to respond rather than react, and let things go when I would have clung to them before.

In a time of living where both beauty and horror loom so very large, I’m able to turn my focus more easefully towards thoughts of hope than fear, even though I’m still holding both.

My last session with Jess was truly a heartfelt experience. Jess is intuitive and very nurturing. I don’t often feel safe enough to get emotional around people, but Jess is so understanding. She is a joy to work with.

What’s 🌥️ Softer Somatics?

🚫 It's not just another collection of somatic practices and "nervous system hacks" - Instagram's already full of those. (And sometimes, full of it.)

🙂‍↕️ It's what to do when you can't quite do the somatic practices you see everywhere. When you feel too brainy, too numb, too broken.

But no, no and no, friend.

If you have a body that's been through (or is going through) traumatic experiences and living in this world, somatic practices aren't simple.

You can’t “just”:

😮‍💨 Take a deep breath and relax.

💭 Connect emotions to body sensations.

🫨 Shake your limbs and the trauma unwinds.

But there is a lot you can do.

I will teach you how to:

🦥 Move at the pace of the nervous system and its slowest, scaredest impulse.

🧸 Pick practices that fit the nervous system space (and headspace) you are in.

🥨 Adapt and adjust the practices so they work for you. You don’t have to be a pretzel to fit the practices!

P.S. You are probably very good at contorting your needs to fit the space, the mood, the vibe, etc. And I bet that life gives you many chances to practice that.

I’ll help you learn to listen to your body, nervous system, and needs—no matter how loud everything else might be.

If you feel too complex (hello complex trauma) for somatic healing, but you still want to try, I will help you:

🌥️ Discover the magic of somatic practices that support the body and nervous system you actually have . . . without needing you to pre-heal before you try healing.

🌥️ Learn the language of your body sensations without overwhelm or increased hypervigilance—if you have chronic pain, you are tracking all the time, so a body scan can be overwhelming instead of helpful.

🌥️ Pocket somatic practices that will meet you where you are and get you closer to where you wanna be without needing big moves or a heavy lift. (You might not have that in you, for now, and that is more than okay!)

🌥️ Lean in to hear your body’s whispers and roars without wondering what you need or trying nervous system tools that don’t work for you. I’ll help you notice what your body is longing for, and find the practices that fit.

Here’s what’s waiting for you:

✦ Accessible library of somatic practices

If you’ve ever tried to take a deep breath or shake it out, and it hasn’t worked for you, welcome. You’re one of us! There’s nothing wrong with deep breathing or shaking or any particular practice.

But if you’re like my clients (and me), you need more choices. More wiggle room. And alternative ways to practice nervous system regulation and embodiment.

Softer Somatics holds a growing library of practices to meet you where you are, not where someone has decided you should be. Most of my clients are spoony/chronic pain and illness, queer, post-trauma folks who need a super sensitive approach. If this sounds like you, you’ll be in good hands here.

✦ Trauma sensitive paths and approaches to embodiment

When you know what your nervous system is up to, you can begin to build a menu of supportive practices and play with how to approach a practice.

If you don’t know when to focus on breathing vs. when counting all the green things in your room will help, this will help you!

You will be invited to play with trauma sensitive somatic practice approaches (like: titration, containment and resourcing), and notice what nourishes your own nervous system.

INVESTING IN YOUR HEALING IS A BIG DEAL. OF COURSE YOU HAVE QUESTIONS!

  • Great question, pal. I talk about this with clients all of the time. My goal is not for my clients to be regulated 100% of the time, or to stuff or make-nice the big, ragey, griefy feelings. Those are the CORRECT RESPONSES to these times.

My goal is not just to help folks be in their bodies more, but to stay with themselves in the most loving way, no matter where they are. It makes sense not to want to be in your body. It makes sense to feel dysregulated in dysregulating times. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hold collective and systemic trauma as part of the web we live in, so you won't find spiritual bypassing or gaslighting here. This is real life somatics. And yes, it's a little harder to do right now, but it's so worth it. <3

  • When you join this Early Bird Beta round, you'll get immediate access to Tracking, my nervous system mapping course, and supportive emails to nudge you along.

And on July 21st, the somatic library of Softer Somatics will start to appear on the course platform. Then, you'll have access to the material for as long as this course exists.

  • Softer Somatics is a learning library of somatic and nervous system practices, and trauma-informed teachings that will help you approach the practices in the ways that work for you, AND care for yourself no matter what comes up!

I am building this course, so when you get in now, you'll get everything I add based on what you need (peep 2 questions below for more details). The course is hosted on Thrivecart, and everything is self-paced and in small pieces.

  • Feeling nervous makes sense. What I can tell you is this. This is a gentle introduction to trauma-informed embodiment, somatics and nervous system healing. I aim to be as accessible as possible, and help what your brain knows to land more deeply in your body and nervous system. Your nerves are invited to come along for this journey. <3

  • Somatic and nervous system practice takes time and space and, well, practice. And your nervous system is unique. So I am hanging out for 5 weeks this summer to support you as you play with new practices! You can write in with questions, and I will sift through my years of client work and tune into my intuition to find a potential answer and next-best-move for you. Please let me help, I forget my enneagram number but I love to be helpful!

  • Due to the digital nature of this offering, there are no refunds.

  • Yes! Please click here to learn more and book a 3 session series if you’d like to explore inviting more somatic support in a 1-1 container.
