healing practices for people who can’t ”just take a deep breath” but desperately need one
Join the Early Bird Waitlist and save $100 when the cart opens!
Have you ever gotten a “30 days to reset your nervous system!” bundle, or joined a somatic workshop, but the practices didn’t work for you?
Maybe it goes a little something like:
🌀 You try to do the movement practice and suddenly your chest is an escalator, your heart is running a marathon, and you’re panic attacking!
🌀 You take the deep breaths and close your eyes but then you’re sinking deep into the dorsal and dissociated swampland, feeling glued and unable to move.
🌀 The instructor gently asks “Where do you feel that in your body?” and you feel a whole lot of nothing! Numb. Nothing. Blank. And then you worry because you feel nothing. (Pssst: nothing is something, but we’ll get to that.)

🌥️ Softer Somatics 🌥️
Softer Somatics is a nervous system healing library for trauma survivors who are done trying somatic practices that aren’t built for their neurocomplex brain and body. Find steadier ground and live a life that feels unfuckwithable, joyful and free. No deep breath required.
I know post-trauma healing (and life) isn’t easy, so I’m not here to bypass your pain or downplay the things that keep you up at night.
But I am here to say: healing is possible. Nightmares can be a rare occurrence and not a nightly companion. More good days than hard ones is not just a pipe dream.
And I know it takes more than ice baths and affirmations.
If we haven’t met yet, I’m Jess (she/they)!
I’m a somatic practitioner who clawed and crawled my way back into my body after complex trauma and sexual assault.
And, after lifelong survival patterns of disembodiment, fawning and nervous system shapeshifting that literally kept me alive. But also made my life kinda small. (Oops!)
Softer Somatics Enrollment is Opening Soon!
I’ve been on this somatic journey for decades, and I have the letters after my name to prove it.
So far: LMT, SSP, and SEP! This means I’m a Licensed Massage Therapist, a Safe & Sound Protocol Provider, and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner!
I will guide you back to your body with care, and the knowledge that it’s not as easy as doing a body scan and “dropping in”.
Of course body connection doesn’t always feel safe. Of course we don’t always want to go towards the place where the pain lives.
This is why attuned support from someone who gets it deeply matters.

You don’t need to try harder. You need to learn the language of your body’s yes and no.
You don’t need to go faster. You need permission to go as slow as the scaredest part of you.
You don’t need to just connect. You need a guide who knows body connection isn’t always the safe option.
You don’t need to transcend your resistance. You need lots of choice about how you connect with your body.
You don’t need to get embodied immediately. You need someone who gets why you’d need to go slow.
You don’t need to do it alone. You need help.
As babies, we learn to self-regulate, self-soothe and stay alive through co-regulation.
Grown up you needs co-regulation, connection and community, too. Especially if you had less than you needed and deserved as a little one.
“I’m finding it a bit easier to make conscious choices in the moment to respond rather than react, and let things go when I would have clung to them before.
In a time of living where both beauty and horror loom so very large, I’m able to turn my focus more easefully towards thoughts of hope than fear, even though I’m still holding both.”

The spaciousness and genuine invitation to show up as you are feels like a rare offering in today's world.”

“My last session with Jess was truly a heartfelt experience. Jess is intuitive and very nurturing. I don’t often feel safe enough to get emotional around people, but Jess is so understanding. She is a joy to work with.”

What’s 🌥️ Softer Somatics?
🚫 It's not just another collection of somatic practices and "nervous system hacks" - Instagram's already full of those. (And sometimes, full of it.)
🙂↕️ It's what to do when you can't quite do the somatic practices you see everywhere. When you feel too brainy, too numb, too broken.
But no, no and no, friend.
If you have a body that's been through (or is going through) traumatic experiences and living in this world, somatic practices aren't simple.
You can’t “just”:
😮💨 Take a deep breath and relax.
💭 Connect emotions to body sensations.
🫨 Shake your limbs and the trauma unwinds.
But there is a lot you can do.
I will teach you how to:
🦥 Move at the pace of the nervous system and its slowest, scaredest impulse. So you take your fear by the hand and move forward with your healing.
🧸 Pick practices that fit the nervous system space (and headspace) you are in. So you can stop fighting with an approach that was never going to work and find something that actually calms the climbing panic in your throat.
🥨 Adapt and adjust the practices so they work for you. You don’t have to be a pretzel to fit the practices! You can find a bit of felt-sense safety while you practice, which will help your body feel safer even when the practice ends.
P.S. You are probably very good at contorting your needs to fit the space, the mood, the vibe, etc. And I bet that life gives you many chances to practice that.
I’ll help you learn to listen to your body, nervous system, and needs—so you can tend to yourself during triggers, and freak out a lot less.
a lot of things are broken, but not you

If you feel too complex (hello complex trauma) for somatic healing, but you still want to try, I will help you:
🌥️ Discover the magic of somatic practices that support the body and nervous system you actually have . . . without needing you to pre-heal before you try healing. So you can start even if you don’t feel quite ready.
🌥️ Learn the language of your body sensations without overwhelm or increased hypervigilance—so you can pick the practices that help you find ease amidst the symptoms instead of adding to them.
🌥️ Pocket somatic practices that will meet you where you are and get you closer to where you wanna be without needing big moves or a heavy lift. Small is all and slow is fast and this is good news for a hardworking nervous system.
🌥️ Lean in to hear your body’s whispers and roars without wondering what you need or trying nervous system tools that don’t work for you. Notice what your body is longing for, and know just how to meet it (or what to ask for, because you aren’t meant to heal inside a vacuum).

That's a big thank you for being here early.
INVESTING IN YOUR HEALING IS A BIG DEAL. OF COURSE YOU HAVE QUESTIONS!
-
Great question, pal. I talk about this with clients all of the time. My goal is not for my clients to be regulated 100% of the time, or to stuff or make-nice the big, ragey, griefy feelings. Those are the CORRECT RESPONSES to these times.
My goal is not just to help folks be in their bodies more, but to stay with themselves in the most loving way, no matter where they are. It makes sense not to want to be in your body. It makes sense to feel dysregulated in dysregulating times. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hold collective and systemic trauma as part of the web we live in, so you won't find spiritual bypassing or gaslighting here. This is real life somatics. And yes, it's a little harder to do right now, but it's so worth it. <3
-
The doors opens for waitlist members on May 30th. Everyone else gets access June 1st. Once you join, you'll get immediate access to both Tracking (my Polyvagal nervous system mapping course) and the Softer Somatics library, so you can ease in before the live calls begin July 8th.

Yes! There are two ways I'll be showing up for you this summer.
🧺 The Question Basket — send me your questions anytime and I'll answer them in a weekly timestamped video digest. You don't have to wait until the next live call if something comes up.
📆 Four live calls on Zoom — two Nervous System Mapping Workshops and two Somatic Practice Circles where I'll be teaching, guiding and in the room with you in real time.
July 8 (Wednesday) — Nervous System Mapping Workshop, 7–8:30pm EST
July 12 (Sunday) — Nervous System Mapping Workshop, 1–2:30pm EST
July 19 (Sunday) — Somatic Practice Circle, 1–2:30pm EST
July 29 (Wednesday) — Somatic Practice Circle, 7–8:30pm EST
All calls are recorded so you can come back to them anytime and shared only with this course.

Softer Somatics is a library of 28 lessons across 4 modules — a mix of somatic practices and trauma-informed teachings about how to actually approach them.
The teachings help you understand your nervous system and how to work with it — things like "The 5% Practice," "Pendulating: Moving Between Okay and Ouch," and "Your Nervous System State & The Practices You Choose."
The practices are the actual somatic tools — things like “Micro-movements for Freeze and Shutdown”, “Containment Practices”, “Vagus Nerve Nourishment”, and more.
Everything is self-paced and in small, doable pieces, with audio, visual and written content designed for neurodivergent learning styles and nervous systems.
This summer you'll also get the Question Basket, Tracking, and four live and recorded Zoom calls.

Feeling nervous makes sense. What I can tell you is this. This is a gentle introduction to trauma-informed embodiment, somatics and nervous system healing. I aim to be as accessible as possible, and help what your brain knows to land more deeply in your body and nervous system. Your nerves are invited to come along for this journey. <3
-
Here are the dates. And there will be be replays, too. (I will only share replays with Softer Somatics members.)
July 8 — Nervous System Mapping Workshop | Wednesday 7:00-8:30PM EST
July 12 — Nervous System Mapping Workshop | Sunday 1:00-2:30PM EST
July 19 — Somatic Practice Circle | Sunday 1:00-2:30PM EST
July 29 — Somatic Practice Circle | Wednesday 7:00-8:30PM EST
-
All four calls are recorded and you'll have always-access to the recordings. So even if life gets in the way (very on-brand for a nervous system course in 2026), you won't miss a thing.
And if being on a live call feels overwhelming, that's okay too. The course library is full of practices you can work with at your own pace, and the Question Basket is always there for when you have something you want to bring.
That said — my calls are very much come-as-you-are. Camera off, pajamas on, lying on the floor. When I say “come as you are” I mean it. :)

Yes, but I am not accepting new clients right now as my books are full.
