Nourish your nervous system.

Let your body lead.

Experience gentle healing.

Get close and listen to the story your body is telling.

This all happens in a somatic session.

Time together is trauma-informed, slow and supportive.

We bring in grounding resources without bypassing the shaky stuff.

We work with doable difficulty.

Your nervous system can be held here and you can, too.

Somatic sessions are a soft place for your nervous system to land. If you live in a body and struggle with dissociation, post trauma responses that haven’t quite learned they aren’t still needed, swirling anxiety, or even chronic pain patterns, working somatically might be helpful for you.

In somatic sessions we follow body sensations and feelings and bring in resources to add more stability, support and safety. All at the pace that is perfect for your nervous system. Not too much, not too little. Like Goldilocks, we’re aiming for “just right”.

By focusing on resourcing alongside honoring the feelings and sensations that come up, my intention is to support clients in being with the waves [emotions + sensations] and wearing floaties and a wet suit [resourcing] so the waves aren’t too big or too cold. So we can stay in the water, and get out from time to time.

In traumatic experiences, you likely didn't have agency, control or choice. In somatic trauma-informed sessions, you do.

In traumatic experiences, it wasn’t as easy as “just getting out of the water”. Sometimes we stayed in the hard stuff to survive.

I honor that. I honor the brilliance of the ways you’ve survived, and the ways you are still surviving.

You can come as your full self and I will do my best to hold space while helping the scary things become a little more manageable.

SO IF YOU ARE FEELING

Curious about somatic healing work, and want to connect with your nervous system and present moment experience (perhaps because these two things can be a struggle for you. if so, you might be in the right place!)

Frustrated with CBT and talk therapy methods; they aren’t helping as much as they once did, and now you’re looking for body-based, bottom-up approaches

Ready to be held in a trauma-informed space with a practitioner that honors your boundaries, affirms your body and nervous system wisdom and coping strategies, and partners with you as the expert of your experience during sessions

Hopeful to explore and maybe even heal anxiety, dissociation, and chronic pain patterns, and to finally befriend your nervous system

Somatic Sessions might support you & your nervous system

BODY-BASED & NERVOUS SYSTEM CENTERED

Your mind is invited and we’ll check in with your body, sensations and nervous system to the degree this feels possible for you. And if it doesn’t feel possible? You’re not alone, and this is a wonderful place to work on that, too.

Hi, I’m Jess (she/they)! I can lean into the quiet and sessions often include laughter. I’m serious about healing, but not serious-serious. It took me ages to live in my body, so I’m no stranger to dissociation and wise survival strategies that save our lives and then eventually make them even harder.

I’m a forever student of the nervous system, neuroscience, healing justice and somatic practice. Sessions with me blend my years of bodywork, craniosacral (pictured in that photo), somatic processing and trauma-informed care. I’d be honored to hold space with you as you heal and grow.

You can learn more about my experience right here.

SESSION DETAILS

Somatic Sessions take place on zoom with cameras on. Sessions are 60 minutes each, including opening our time together and integrating the work.

BEGINNING OUR SOMATIC WORK TOGETHER

Our first session together is 90 minutes in order to hold time and space for all we will potentially explore.

The first session is an important one! We have time for intake, beginning to build our relationship, and establishing context for our work together.

During the first session, you will be invited to:

  • Map your nervous system through polyvagal theory and a somatic sense

  • Share what brings you to the session and what you are hoping for in our work together

  • Name histories, identities, struggles, sensitivities and needs; as well as glimmers, joys and strengths

  • Receive more context and clarity around somatic processing and our work together

Note: Clients often take 2 sessions (or more!) to complete the beginnings of their polyvagal nervous system map. This process can offer shared language for our work together, and deeper self compassion and understanding for your nervous system’s survival responses and brilliance.

In proceeding sessions, we may be more organic and emergent and follow what is coming up for you. We may also decide to explore a certain theme, like resourcing or containing. Sessions can also include nervous system mapping and exploration, or working with certain nervous system and survival responses.

Sliding scale rates:

$120 per 60 minute session | $180 per 90 minute session

for folks with access to expendable or stable income

$100 per 60 minute session | $150 for 90 minute session

for folks with limited to expendable or stable income

$80 per 60 minute session | $120 per 90 minute session

for folks with limited access to cash, funds, housing security, etc.

Sliding scale is important to me. Offering sliding scale does not reflect that my business is financially abundant. Offering accessible (I know this is incredibly relative) services is important to me, so I do it whenever and wherever I can. You can choose where you fall on the sliding scale. I don’t ask for proof, just for clients to self-select the rate that is within their means.
